Who writes this — and how we work
Simply Dictate is written by people who dictate for a living, not about it. We are a small web and content studio from Germany; most of the words on our sites, in our emails and in our client work start as speech. This site is the guide we wished existed when we started.
How we test
Every instruction on this site is verified on real hardware before it is published: current macOS and Windows machines, iPhone and Android for the mobile guides. When a tool changes — a moved setting, a new price — we update the page and the “updated” stamp in the footer. If you find something outdated, the tool changed before we caught it; the imprint has our address.
How this site earns money
Openly: some links to paid tools are affiliate links. If you buy through them, the maker pays us a commission; your price never changes. Three rules keep that honest:
- Free first. Built-in, no-cost options are always named before any paid tool — usually with their own full guides.
- Paid must earn its place. We name who should not buy a tool in the same breath as who should.
- Marked, every time. Affiliate links are labeled at the link and in the footer of every page.
Pages that compare alternatives carry no affiliate links at all, so the comparison stays clean.
Why dictation, of all topics
Because it is the rare productivity change that is free to try, takes a week to learn, and stays useful for decades — and because the writing about it is dominated by either dry OS documentation or breathless tool marketing. There was room for a calm site that simply shows you how, starting with the tools you already own.
